ENVIRONMENTAL CODE OF CONDUCT
Kayak and 4 WD tours when conducted in a responsible manner have minimal impact on the environment if the following considerations are observed.
Kayaking
Entry and exit of kayaks at designated areas only.
Avoid paddling in shallow areas to retain water clarity.
Flora and Fauna.
- We ask that when on the water clients keep noise level at a minimum so as not to disturb the wildlife
- Do not approach or feed wildlife.
- Do not approach nest sites
- Do not remove plants or pick wild flowers.
- Use only designated paths to minimize damage to flora.
Historical and Cultural Sites
- Do not remove or deface any part of any structures, ruins, relics or objects that have or may have historical, cultural or natural significance.
Rubbish
- Where no maintained rubbish receptacles exist all rubbish is to be managed on a take in/take out basis. To assist with this plastic bags are available from your tour guide.
- Food waste and rubbish are not permitted to enter the water or the environment. When on the water do not throw anything overboard, keep any food scraps or rubbish on the kayak and dispose of them in a responsible manner on land.
Toilets.
- Where no established toilets exist, ensure all toileting and ablutions using biodegradable soap or detergents be performed at least 100 meters away from the water.
- Ensure all personal sanitary products and wound dressings are carried out and disposed of in a responsible manner. To assist with this plastic bags are available from your tour guide.
